One week until Election Day

Dear Students, Staff, and Faculty,
We are exactly one week away from Election Day, which is Tuesday, November 5. If you are eligible to vote in this year’s election, I encourage you to do so.
I’m proud to be a part of a community that is so civically engaged, and I want to especially thank the members of our Creative Citizens in Action (CCA@CCA) and Voting Coalition who have put together many resources to support you in your voting experience.
As you prepare your vote and await the results, here are five helpful tips for our community to consider.
- Be informed. Thanks to our students for creating this incredible 2024 California Ballot Proposition Guide. Written, illustrated, and designed by CCA students in CCA@CCA Faculty Grant recipient Natalie Pellolio's HAVC Art and the Machine course, this voter guide breaks down each proposition in clear, everyday language, making it easier to grasp the issues at hand and make informed decisions on Election Day.
- Teaching module for faculty. CCA@CCA has created a helpful module including a presentation, class activities, readings, and other resources for faculty to share with students in their classrooms. Election resources are also available for international students on our Voting Resources Portal page. Please feel free to use these tools to integrate voting discussion into your classes.
- Get inspired by art. On October 19 during the opening of our expanded campus, we premiered a new exhibition timed to coincide with the election—TAKE ACTION. On view in our new Deborah and Kenneth Novack Gallery, the exhibition features works by CCA faculty and alumni who have created work inspired by the issues they care deeply about. I encourage you to stop by for a visit.
- Plan your Election Day at CCA. Throughout the day on Tuesday, November 5, CCA will host several activities and events. Take a look at the activations happening throughout campus.
- Get out and vote! CCA’s Blattner Hall is one of 500 San Francisco polling locations, making it convenient for our community members to vote in person. You can also drop off your ballot here.
If you have any questions about your absentee ballot or how to vote in person or via mail, please reach out to vote@cca.edu.
Election Day can cause a range of emotions for many of us, including excitement, anxiety, and apprehension. CCA has resources available should you need support during this time. I have included some helpful links below my signature.
While we may not all agree on the issues at hand, it's important to remain respectful of each other’s opinions and appreciate the variety of perspectives within our community. Please remember to be kind to yourself and one another.
Sincerely,
David C. Howse
President
