Key Terms in Workday

Academics Dashboard - a dashboard in Workday that provides information on your academic record, including class standing and any upcoming registration appointments. To access the Academics Dashboard, log in to Workday, select the icon of four squares in the top right of the header or at the bottom of the Quick Tasks section of your home page, and select Academics.

Class Standing - For undergraduates, your class year is based on the number of completed units prior to the current term. Your class standing does not include units in progress:

  • First year: 0–29 units
  • Second year: 30–59 units
  • Third year: 60–89 units
  • Fourth year: 90–120 units
  • Fifth year (BArch only): 121–159 units

Registration Appointment - an assigned appointment in Workday, at which point your registration window opens, and class registration is available to you. Registration appointments are assigned based on your class standing.

Fall 2024 Withdrawal Dates

The Fall 2024 Add/Drop period has ended, and students can no longer add classes for the semester. If you have concerns about a class we strongly recommend that you consult with your Academic Advisor to discuss all options, or potential effects of withdrawing. You may also find it helpful to discuss your plan to withdraw with your instructors.

Withdrawing from a class

If you have spoken to your Academic Advisor and have decided to withdraw from a course, you may do so starting Wednesday, September 11 until Friday, November 01 at 11:00pm (Pacific Time). Withdrawing will result in a “W” grade for the course on your transcript. This grade will not affect your GPA.

Please review the section Withdrawing from One or More Courses in the Student Handbook and how withdrawing from courses could affect your full-time status. To withdraw from a course, please follow the Withdraw from course instructions on the Portal.

Taking a leave of absence or college withdrawal

Workday will prevent students withdrawing from all courses. Students who wish to withdraw from all courses are required to meet with their Academic Advisor.
