Event description
Join Casper Mork-Ulnes, principal of Mork-Ulnes Architects and an alumnus of CCA Architecture, for a presentation of The Craft of Place (Park Books, 2025), the firm’s first monograph. Reflecting on themes of materials, traditions, sustainability, scale, and light, the book delves into the studio's approach to integrating architecture within diverse environments.
Rooted in the distinct cultural topographies of California and Norway, The Craft of Place explores Mork-Ulnes Architects’ method of balancing object and landscape, drawing inspiration from local vernacular and materials. This event offers a unique opportunity to hear directly from Casper Mork-Ulnes about the philosophies, influences, and processes that shape his work.
Casper Mork-Ulnes is the founder of Mork Ulnes Architects, an international practice with offices in San Francisco and Oslo. An alumnus of CCA (B.Arch) and Columbia University (M.S.A.A.D), Casper has received numerous accolades, including the Architectural League of New York’s Emerging Voices Award and recognition as one of "California’s finest emerging talents" by the AIA California Council. His work has been celebrated globally, earning him a place in Under 40: Young Norwegian Architecture 2013 and two nominations for the European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture – Mies van der Rohe Award.
