Event description
We are thrilled to welcome the Head of Characters at Walt Disney Animation Studios to share her story and experience of working at Disney for 30 years. Michelle oversees the production departments that create 3D characters: modeling, rigging, simulation set up and the look development for the GC characters for Encanto and a recent short film called "Once Upon a Studio". "Look Development" is her home department which is the team that paints textures, defines materials, and sculpts the hair and fur on characters. While the character design team is part of the art department, Michelle will also talk generally about building characters for a Disney animated film. Join us to hear her insights on what it takes to be considered by Disney and how they can best prepare. Find out what it is like to be an entry and senior level character designer and what and how the departments interact with other departments. Learn more about how people sometimes start in one area and have the opportunity to move to another. Don't miss the opportunity to find out how you can best prepare if you were to get an interview. Lastly, Michelle will speak to what you can expect of the interview process.
