Event description

On Wednesday February 5, we invite you to discuss the power of the public bench and dive into the interior worlds of the eight furniture artists featured in Works In Progress III.

Each artist was tasked to rethink an aspect of our world that is so crucial but often taken at face value: the public bench. Accompanied by projected visuals, they will take you through the backstories behind their benches and early seeds of inspiration — whether a place in the world, an action, an excerpt from a book, or an element in nature. This is a rare, personal look into the minds of object makers working in the Bay Area.

If you attended our last dialogue, you know our talks are casual, communal, and insightful, with a goal of peeling back the layers of a design practice and fostering deep appreciation for what goes into crafting furniture + objects.

The dialogue will feature Adrien SegalAlex SchofieldBen PetersonBrooke IntrachatMichael Mellon, and Nick Polansky, hosted by Works In Progress curators Kate Greenberg and Kelley Perumbeti, Katherine Lam of the CCA Furniture department, and the CCA Campus Gallery / CCA Exhibitions.

Event Date: Wed Feb 5, 5:30-7pm
