GAMING SCIENCE: GAME JAMS
Play the games created by the students of the "Gaming Science," a science and math course offered in the Critical Studies Program.
Students undertook a Game Jam, a 24 or 48 hour period of rapid game design, development, and production. The games were based in research into the science underlaying game mechanics that underlay so many games--such as probability, game theory, cognitive science. With the global Covid-19 pandemic forcing campus closure, students had add the added dimension their projects from being played on the tabletop to be distributable online and to take part in CCA's Virtual Game Faire.
I am impressed with my student's ability, adaptability, and creativity in creating such fun, interesting, and scientifically-informed games, in so short a window of time, during a pandemic, and all while many were finishing off their senior projects. Great work! - Zachary Walter, Assistant Professor in Animation, Game Arts Coordinator
