Learning Outcomes
The requirements, reviews, and curriculum for CCA's Fashion Design program are designed such that graduating students successfully achieve the following program learning outcomes:
Illustration
CCA Fashion Design students will be able to illustrate standing figures, expressive of attitude and materiality, and show mastery of hand and computer illustration that represent technical construction knowledge and conceptual design thinking.
Design Thinking
CCAFD students will present collections for critique that express their design thinking through 2D & 3D development integrating fashion vocabulary, textiles/materials, color, texture, pattern and aesthetic point of view.
Construction
CCAFD students will show a clear understanding of tools, techniques, and methodologies sufficient to produce finished artifacts suitable for the human form that exhibit an acute awareness of function and craftsmanship.
Sustainability
CCAFD students will create designs that demonstrate a critical engagement of sustainable practices for the fashion industry, beyond materiality and manufacturing.
Professional Practice
CCAFD students will have a working knowledge of business processes and entrepreneurship, and will produce a professional portfolio of work, build a resume and business plan, and articulate a strategy for intern/job interviews as part of their understanding of professional design practices.
Media and Materials Knowledge/Research
CCAFD students will have an understanding of the history of fashion design, including the influences of works and ideas on the evolution of fashion design practices over time and across cultures.
