Carry your I-94 Document as proof of F-1 status in the US

Posted January 29, 2025, 9:35 AM

The International Student Services (ISS) team understand the current political climate due to the change in US Presidential administration can bring feelings of uncertainty. The International Student Services (ISS) team is here to guide you on how to continue to maintain your legal F-1 status in the US so there is no question about your ability to stay.

At this time we feel it is important that you carry proof of your F-1 status with you while in the United States. Having documentation readily available can provide added reassurance and clarity should you be asked to verify your status. We specifically recommend carrying a printed copy of your most recent I-94 record, which serves as evidence of your lawful entry as a F-1 student.

Retrieve your I-94 record using the U.S. Customs and Border Protection I-94 Retrieval Tool and select "Get Most Recent I-94".  We recommend you print this important document and keep it with you.

You can be confident in maintaining your legal F-1 status in the United States by:

  • Enrolling full-time in your academic program (unless you have been approved for a reduced course load by the ISS team)
  • Refraining from unauthorized employment

The ISS team is here to support you during your time at CCA as a F-1 student. We are happy to answer any questions, address concerns, and provide guidance as needed. If you have any questions about your F-1 status, maintaining compliance, or using the I-94 retrieval tool, please contact ISS: iss@cca.edu

You are all a vital part of our CCA community!
