Know Your TIX: CCA Sex Discrimination Policy & Resources (2024)
What Is Title IX?
Title IX is a federal law that prohibits sex discrimination against in educational institutions that receive federal financial assistance. Schools are required to ensure that campuses are free of sex discrimination and have an established procedure for handling complaints. California College of the Arts has a Title IX Coordinator and two Title IX Deputy Coordinators who handle complaints of sex discrimination, including complaints of sex-based harassment and retaliation, as well as other behaviors listed in the CCA Sex Discrimination Policy.
Creating a Safe & Accountable Community
California College of the Arts is committed to ending sexual misconduct and sex discrimination, providing a prompt and equitable process to determine responsibility to both complainants and respondents, and supporting survivors. As an employer and educational institution, CCA has a responsibility to take reasonable steps to eliminate sexual misconduct of any kind, including sexual harassment, sexual assault, intimate partner violence, sexual exploitation, and stalking. We must also work to prevent reoccurrence and to address the effects of these behaviors. The College strongly believes all members of our community should take reasonable and responsible actions to prevent and/or stop acts of sexual misconduct. As a community, we must hold ourselves and others accountable to create a safe and inclusive environment for everyone.
To ensure compliance with federal, state, and local civil rights laws and regulations, and to affirm its commitment to promoting the goals of fairness and equity in all aspects of the education program or activity, CCA has developed policies and procedures that provide for effective resolution of allegations of protected characteristic discrimination, sex-based harassment or allegations of retaliation.
